Thigh pain lifting leg to walk

At 69 and diabetic, I also have spinal stenosos, spondylosis, carpal and tarsal tunnel syndrome, polyneuropathy and severe arm and leg cramps.  I take moderate amounts of Ultram (daily), and Vicodin and Percocet as needed for pain.  My muscle enzymes have been high for years but no-one has ever bothered to determine why.

The last couple of days I have something new, pretty severe pain in the upper inner part of my left thigh (goes about 3/4 of the way around my thigh) as I lift my leg to walk. I can sit, lie or stand without pain, but as soon as the weight lifts off my foot, pain.  It is making walking very slow, dragging the leg, and it's very tiring.

It may be muscle problems, but in view of my nerve problems, I'm wondering if that's a factor and which sort of doctor I should consult - orthopedic or neurology, or maybe someone different.

Any suggestions?

Shake hands re: carpal and tarsal tunnel syndrome & polyneuropathy.

I share those horrors with you, as well as severe headaches, esophagitis, severe tongue sores, flu symptoms, you name it. What triggers my symptoms most, is being at the computer prolongedly. Ditto vis-a-vis fluresence & computer-mice. What's most healing for me are black cherries, cherry berry tea, raspberry tea, probioticYogurt, yams, flax oil, yellow oils, organic-honey, barley grass powder, mullein.

I'm 51, and have also had a compromised thigh since 1990 (though it's at the rear of thigh), due to having flexed my feet during an acupuncture session, which caused pain to shoot up my calf resulting in permanent neuropathy there. I developed tarsal-tunnel the same way; after eating a low-fat SouthBeach choco-flavored "health bar"at the supermarket, while standing prolongedly in compression hose. In fact, compression hose causes my tarsal tunnel to KILL me.

Long ago, I had tried getting a Soulpalfinder site launched, to match up people with not only similar interests & vocations, BUT ALSO similar symptoms. I never had luck with same, since on top of all my other conditions, I also am a victim of Bad Luck (which many people don't believe in. And the skepticism is in large part why I wanted to launch a Soulpalfinder site.

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of your symptoms. Possibilities that may need to be considered include neuro-muscular issues, vascular causes, issues related to bones/ joints, referred pain from other regions etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an internist initially and depending on the cause diagnosed/ suspected it can be managed accordingly or specialist care may be sought.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
