Is there anyone undergoing Lasik eye surgery?

Hello friends, is anyone undergoing Lasik eye surgery? I am suffering from myopia. My eye consultant suggested I have Lasik surgery next week. But I am still confused and worried about Lasik's treatment. I think experienced people can help me eliminate this confusion, so if anyone has the experience, please share it.

Your surgery is elective and you should not schedule it until you have done research and understand the risks as well as the benefits.  I can give you some general information but first would need your age and your glasses prescription.  DO NOT have the surgery till you are comfortable.

"Yes, Doctor, I'm collecting information about Lasik eye surgery and even went to a nearby clinic and attended counselling as well. But still, I'm a bit anxious!
I'm 38 years old, and I've been using -3.25D glasses for a long time. I wore contact lenses briefly, which didn't work out as I anticipated. I am uncomfortable wearing glasses, looking for an alternative, although apprehensive about the long-term effects."
You should be aware of this and it should have been disclosed to you.  If the operation works 'perfect' and you  have 20/20 (metric 6/6) vision, you likely will be happy until you are about 42-43 when due to the effects of age (presbyopia) you will need reading glasses. When you are in your 50's your mid-range (computer) vision will start to fail and you will need glasses for reading and computer when you are in your 60's your eye will not be able to focus at TV distance 8-10 feet. Eventually you will be in "no line bifocals" so you can see at different ditances without carrying around 3-4 pairs of glasses.  If you don't have lasik you should be able to read up close by removing your glasses all your life.  So you need to research and understand that lasik is for distance vision, it makes near vision worse in middle age people and older.
