3rd detatched retina surgery

I am 61 years old last year suffered detached retina healed perfect with virectomy and gas bubble. 2 weeks later tore again this time almost completely across. Second surgery re-attached with silicoin  oil afterwards. % months later still can;t see well due to scar tissue preventing part of retina from re-attaching. Dr planning 3rd surgery to remove scar tissue and re-attach the retina . His prognosis was not promising and it seems the card tissue putting a shadow over my eye won;t heal and my eye has no chance to improve .Can;t decide if risk of blindness from surgery backfiring is worth risk?

Not something we can help you with. Many posts like that. The most important thing is preserving the health of your remaining eye. When you have RD in one eye it dramatically increases the risk of RD in fellow eye to as much as 5-9% to protect it from injury, disease, unhealthy living and have it checked at least once/year by Eye MD.

As someone who's had detachments repaired in both eyes I'd encourage a second opinion.
