Amblyopia

Hi,
I am new in U.S. So everything is new and very different here, especially with doctors and so on.
I have since early youth Amblyopia (left eye) and now I need new lenses and glasses. But how is it here, where to go? Do I have to go to an eye doctor or only to an optometrist? Or anyone else? Thanks for your answers.
Stefanie
