Any recommendations to treat a diagnosis of Retina Pucker ?

After my diagnosis of Retina Pucker, the Doctor has recommended surgery which involves peeling a layer off the eyeball to which I rejected due to my age 86 and possible complications. I have to close my left eye to read ,watch TV, and drive. Hopefully there is some magic treatment to eliminate the pucker.

Just speaking for myself, I would have no qualms about having the surgery proposed if being the age of 86 is your only reason for not having it done. As Dr. Hagan posted however, every case of retinal pucker (epiretinal membrane) is unique to the individual and your surgeon could best answer the question of what your expected outcome might likely be.  I had it done at age 59 and had a good outcome, recovery requires patience however.

No there isn't other than peeling it off.

How successful is this surgery and is it true that cataracts may re-develop ?
It always causes cataracts. If a cataract has been removed it will not cause them to reform.  The success varies wildly because of the size, location and depth of the membrane.  From restoring 20/20 with no distortion to making it worse.
