Can you experience negative dysphotopsia without cataract surgery?

When I look at a white wall, I see all sorts of dark shapes and shadows, especially when I blink. Is it possible this is normal, but I am just paying too much attention/training my brain to see all the anomalies? Ophthalmologist says my eyes are healthy, apart from intraocular hypertension/being a glaucoma suspect. Happy Thanksgiving too :)

I did a visual field exam already - 24-2 - and it was WNL, except for my blind spot being above the horizontal. Is that worrying?
You need a wider testing program like 30-2    the 24-2 is not wide enough for your complaint.
That's true. The shadow wasn't covered by the lights. It was further to the left. When I look straight ahead, I can only see a part of it; most of it is against my nose. I need to look to the right to see it all
Now you know.   If you are still worried ask it be repeated with wider testing parameter.
I'm worried a tear or detachment was missed. But I saw on my notes under dilated exam: "attached 360 degrees to periphery" which suggests no detachment, right? How likely would a glaucoma fellow be to miss a retinal problem, though?
Not at all likely.  Glaucoma ophthalmologists have all the training of a comprehensive ophthalmologist then a year additional on glaucoma.
Well, that's reassuring. I was worried because she seemed so quick with the peripheral retinal check, compared to the optometrist (who also didn't see a tear or detachment). Also, she didn't do scleral depression, but my eyes were very dilated. I am not sure she sure all the way to the ora serrata because I remember years ago I was told one of the "fingers" was sticking up on mine, like a zipper that isn't closed properly and she didn't mention that

Negative dysphotopsia come ONLY  in eye with intraocular lens in eye.  So that is not your problem

I've been told my retinas are healthy, so what should be my next step? Ophthalmologist told me a neurologist but the problem is in one eye ...
