CRYSTALENS EXCHANGE

had monovision, after the crystalens implant I have limited distance...If I new I was going to lose my distance vision,I would have never had this lens... I would not have minded wearing readers but I do not want to have to wear glasses for distance...Can my vision be restored without explanting the crystalens?  Iam seeing another eye dr for a second opionion for I have lost confindence in my current eye surgeon.  I used this lens at his suggestion at considerable cost.  I feel he is responsible for my loss of vision and should make things right...He did make the statement that he used the wrong power lens....

Your second consultant will probably help you a great deal.

Your options before IOL removal: glasses, contacts, lasik surgery.

I have read a few of your posts, but still don't have a full picture of your situation. How long ago did you have the procedure? Did you get the newer HD model? I have HD's and am still working on improving my distance vision 2.5 months after surgery.

Has your doctor told you your refraction (like -0.50 diopters)? Do you have any astigmatism? Can your vision be corrected with glasses? Has your doctor mentioned the possibility that a YAG procedure might help (Don't get a YAG without getting understanding it fully, by the way, especially if you think you might want to explant this lens and get a different one).

Getting a second opinion is definitely the right thing to do. Hopefully this new doctor can help with these questions, and present the options such as PRK, contact lenses, or whatever. Personally I would view a lens exchange as a last resort, and hopefully you won't need it.

Good luck.
