Cadaract Surgery Sacrafice one vision for another?

My Aunt had surgery last Thursday for Cadaracts.  She wasn't told prior to the procedure that
she would lose her far sightedness and only have nearsightedness.  she couldn;'t see out of the
Sunglasses with a lense that they gave her.  And now she can't see to read, wright or cook?
Why wasn't she told this was the case.  She was schdeuled for the other eye but now doesn't want
to have it done for fear she will have to wear glasses?   I don';t understand why only seeing at a distance
can't they do laser to make her eyes 20/20?

Yes, her surgeon should have explained all this to her.  She still can leave her second eye nearsighted and she hopefully will be happy with that.

Apparently, your aunt was nearsighted before surgery, and now she has good uncorrected distance vision.  But she will need glasses for cooking, using the computer, and reading.  This should have been explained to her before surgery.

Tell your aunt to make sure that her surgeon leaves her second eye a little nearsighted.  Then she should be able to cook, put on makeup, and use the computer without glasses.  If all goes well, she will only need glasses for reading small print.
