Thanks so much for answering. I've scheduled follow-up visits with retina specialist & regular ophth but I've decided not to spend the $$ and time on a second medial opinion.
Knowing that either diagnosis requires no treatment is reassuring. Thanks again.

Thanks for your response. The diagnosis of retinoschisis was from a retina specialist after lots & lots of computer photos and yellow dye. My regular ophthamologist had wanted the retina specialist's opinion on what he called an "irregularity" and a fast growing cataract. The joint decision was that cataract removal should wait. I became extremely nearsighted when I was 12 years old & had an extended bout of pars planitis in my 20's and optic neurtis later on. Unfortunately, I don't remember which eye & records no longer available. I'm also fortunate to have "benign" RR mulitple sclerosis. Retina specialist told me no treatment or cure and didn't expect improvement.
This is very uncommon for a female of your age. Please see a retina specialist.
