Cataract surgery for myopic correction with amblyopia

So I'm looking to have cataract surgery for my severely high myopic prescription (-16l with -4.5cyl and -18r with -4cyl), my right eye is amblyopic and turns outward whenever I'm not focusing on anything, my right eye also has 20/40 vision corrected, can this cause any problems?

Yes your operation will be much more difficult and risky than the standard operation. You have so much astigmatism you should talk to the surgeon about a toric lens (IOL). Also your severe myopia increases the risk of a retinal detachment and that risk will go much higher after even successful cataract surgery. Would suggest you see a retina surgeon for a detailed exam of your retina and discussion of risks and see if any weak spots/holes/tears need to be treated prior to surgery and you likely need to be examined by the retina surgeona gain after surgery. It is also harder to pick the IOL power with great accuracy in eyes as long as yours.
