Chronic Blepharitis that I can't get relief from

I have been going to optamologist for couple months. I have Blepharitis, I have had it 20 years and never much problems with it.. Last couple years it been hard to manage. Especially last couple months. I wake in the morning and can barely open eyes because they so swollen, feel like sand paper, sting, and rims of eyes are pink in the morning.. It makes me feel miserable..
I was on 100 mg of doxycycline for 10 days.. Had side affects of doxy but getting ready to try 50 mg.. I do warm compresses 2 times a day, baby shampoo washes 2 times a day, refresh with omega eye drops once a day, eye love lid and lash cleaner once a day, it has diluted hydrochloric acid in it. Feeling frustrated with Optamologist because I don't think he's doing enough or helping enough..I am 53.. so I am wondering if my hormones during menopause could have made me worse since it 20 years never had hardly any problems except occasional itching.. Now it's affecting my life a lot..

I would also suggest getting a second opinion.  I would try for an Eye MD that specializes in "cornea and external disease"  I suspect you have a major underlying dry eye (doctors call it ocular surface disorder) as a component.  Also a new prescription eyelid cleaner Avenova works much much better than baby shampoo or over the counter products.  You should be using artificial tears likely a preservative free type 3-4 times/day.   It's a chronic problem so you need a regime that will keep you comfortable.  Heat should be applied with a eye pad that is reusable rather than washcloth  Best is Bruder Eye Mask available many drug stores and on internet.
