Cold Sores and Eyes *PLEASE HELP!*

So my cold sore is closing in on the end of the scabbing phase. I have been VERY careful to not touch it and if I did, I washed my hands or used hand sanitizer and I have been VERY careful with that (my hands are so dry from washing them so much) because I DO NOT want to spread this or risk me getting another one anytime soon.

Anyway, Saturday I was doing my makeup and I was using a brand new makeup sponge and I was VERY careful to not let the sponge touch the sore (the scab had fallen off because it was getting smaller.) In my daze of doing my makeup, I did the area under my nose and THEN did it around my eye. I am like 99.99% certain the sponge did not touch the sore but I am worried I like contaminated my eye.

Last night, my eye was bugging me (looking at it there was a speck of something in it, took forever to get rid of it.) and this morning my eye was a bit irritated and looked a little swollen so I don't know if that is from me messing with my eye last night or if I really DID contaminate my eye, or if I am just a crazy lady and this is all in my head. Please help!!!!!!

Hopefully your eye is better now. Even if you did inoculate yourself by the Herpes simplex virus (which is very unlikely) you would not have symptoms this soon. If you are 99.99% you did not touch your eye then the third possibility is the most likely

My eye is no longer bothering me. My dad said sometimes his eyes get irritated when he doesn't sleep well and since I have been stressed out I haven't been sleeping well. Thank you so much for posting and helping to ease my mind a little!
