Considering Visian ICL for High Myopia

Hello everyone.

I have been wearing contacts for the past 18 years. My eyesight is around -17D, with around 1.8 astigmatism.
I am currently thinking of getting the Visian ICL surgery, but would like more reviews.
I have been to see 2 opthamolagists who both recommend the ICL surgery.
There are benefits and risks involved, which I have read about.

Apparently the non toric Visian V4C ICL corrects up to -18D, the toric to correct astigmatism doesn't go up to that script I have been told. The Dr said he would expect me to see fairly well with the normal ICL.

I would like to find people that have done this with higher scripts, to see what their outcomes have been.
Or anyone with more information, is it worth considering?

Can anyone shed some light on this, will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Something you might want to consider. See a highly experienced and specially trained cornea/refractive surgeon. You would probably have surface lasik (PRK) and reduce most of the myopia and  astigmatism.  Would need to be highly skilled and have access to latest technology.

Thank you for the reply, I have decided not to go ahead with ICL.
After reading in more details there are too many risks involved.
Maybe technology will improve over time and have something safer.

As Dr. Hagan posted, I personally would not opt for an ICL to correct astigmatism (which I have to some degree) since that is an elective surgical procedure.  Cataract surgery is something I would absolutely have done though when necessary.

I don't recommend ICL. The risks are too high: cataract, cornea damage, inflammation plus risk of surgery infection, bleeding.  Within the last 5 days someone posted that they had ICL put in and they are developing cataracts and now have to have it removed.
