Conflicting information about Ocular migraines

I have random but numerous lavender/purple photopsias throughout the day lasting anywhere from a few seconds to hours. I was wondering if these color blobs/flashbulb strobe light things  ( which sometimes flash white for a while) could be scotomas?. I've been told they could be ocular migraines( which run in my family), but then I hear those don't occur every day. I have vitreous degeneration, I've heard it could be that, then I hear no, that just manifests as floaters. Please, I'd like some straight facts. My ophthalmologist says my eyes are fine - no tears, holes etc. I am scheduled to see a neurologist but my appointment is very far off.
