Contacts for Fuch's

A lady was telling me about her husband who has Fuch's and was prescribed contact lenses that she said possibly will put off the need for a corneal transplant. The contacts are hybrids - part hard contact in the middle and soft contacts around the edge. Has anyone heard of this or used them and how do they work?

First I would wonder whether she wasn't talking about keratoconus as contact lens are an import part of treatment for that cornea problem but NOT for Fuch's.   An with Fuch's cornea transplant not done any more, instead a much safer, faster healing procedure is done in which just the sick endothelium is stropped off the ailing cornea and a new healthy layer implanted from someone that has died and donated  their eyes.   So something isn't right in your post.

I checked back - what he has is keratoconus and pinguecula and astigmatism. That makes more sense to me now also. I could not find anything about those contacts and Fuchs online. Thank you and sorry for the confusion.
Be sure your friend is aware of cornea cross-linking therapy. Now approved in USA.  It is treatment of choice for progressive K-conus.
