Part of this is an "experience report" to go over my experiences thus far with my Crystalens and part of it is a question. I am male, 61, had never had any kind of eye surgery before and was about 20/278 before the surgery.
I had my first Crystalens put in my non dominant left eye on Feb 9. The surgery was quick, painless and without incident. I went directly from the operating room to a restaurant for a great meal.
The doctor told me that their goal for this eye was to make it slightly myopic so that my right eye would continue to be my dominant eye. They put in a Crystalens HD in my left eye. Today is March 4, which is slightly more than 3 weeks. With my left eye I can see quite well up close and intermediate and am about 20/30 at distance (I'll know for sure tomorrow as I go for an exam). The only problem that I had with my left eye (and also my right eye) is that it took forever for the dilation drops to wear off (slightly more than 2 weeks).
My right eye surgery was performed 2 weeks later than my left on February 23. Again, no problems, great food after. Since today is March 4, it is about 9 days since right eye surgery. This eye is to be set for distance and intermediate. The lens they put in was the Crystalens AO, which is supposed to be their latest and greatest. Again I am having dilation problems even though they used a very mild dilation medicine on the right eye. So far my vision in my right eye is not as good as my left eye.
Question: I would have expected in the right eye for the distance vision to be better than it is, even in this short period since this is my "distance" eye. Has anyone had a similar experience? What would be pertinent questions to ask my doctor tomorrow at my exam? Thanks for all the great contributors to this board.
