Crystalens+dehydration

Following the Crystalens implant surgery, my vision was excellent (20/10 within 24 hours) and there was no discomfort, or even sensation from the lens, in my eye.  Of course, I was thrilled!  However, approximately 2 weeks later, I spent time in the sauna while on vacation, and experienced some dehydration. Water & pretzels alleviated most of that within a few hours, but the eye with the implant continued to feel dry and gritty. I called the surgeon, who recommended Systane, which I have been using liberally for a week. I did see his associate during this period, who assured me that the problem would clear up with continued use of Systane. I am a bit concerned, since it is now 8 days since the episode of dehydration, and my eye is still not fully recovered; it seems a relatively minor event to produce such an extended response. Am I concerned for no reason? Is dehydration a particular issue with the Crystalens implant? Have others experienced this problem?

It is possible that the cough changed the position of the Crystalens. On the other hand it could have occurred even if no cough.

If you have the monofocal IOL for distance and the Crystalens from intermediate and near you have the bases covered without glasses. For your "best" vision a pair of no line bifocals can help the eyes work together at whatever distance you need to see.

If the Crystalens had better distance vision it would make the reading vision worse.

I had a crystalen place and could see very clear at a distance for about ten days, develop a bad cough, and then started loosing distance vision, they kept telling it was getting better but my distance is only clear up to four feet, with the crystalen, I am glad I got a regular lens on my first eye, because I see distance with it, it's just I got the crystallen for reading , intermidiate, and distanceand  I can only read well and use the computer with the crystalen with it and I paid out of pocket for that which the insurance didnt cover, my choice of course.

It is very, very  unlikely that the change in your vision is due to the overdose of sauna. Other causes would have to be sought.
