Dermoid Cyst - left eyelid recurrence

I'm a 26 yr old man who had a dermoid cyst on the left eyelid excised roughly a year ago.

Diagnosis was "Dermoid cyst ruptured by foreign body giant cell reaction"

The cyst had an almost immediate recurrence, about 2 months after the operation, and I'm going in for a follow-up excision soon.

My questions are:
1. The doctor said "foreign body giant cell reaction" is common and nothing malignant about it. is that true? Any more info on that?
2. Through these past months, the contents of the cyst automatically empties through the excision (once it inflames, I guess there's 'room' for it to drain itself.....so, i get the yellow liquid followed by a little blood from it). It recurs every other week and empties itself. Once I do the follow-up surgery this month, what are teh chances of recurrence? Is there anything malignant that could arise?

Thanks MUCH in advance for your help.

1. Yes foreign body reaction is not malignant. The dermoid is "foreign" to the body so antibodies and inflammation occur which look a certain way to a pathologist.
2. Generally an effort is made to completely removed the dermoid (not always possible). These cases are complicated. I suggest that your surgery be done by an experienced occuloplastic surgeon or at least get a consult from one prior to surgery. Maybe your ophthalmologist is an oculoplastic surgeon.  Only an in person exam can give the odds of a second reoccurence. Generally the risk of malignant transformation is very small. Thanks Doctor for the info...very helpful.

My doctor's website says she is  "board-certified ophthalmic surgeon and a Fellow of the AmericanSociety of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery" , "has a private practice in cosmetic and reconstructive Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery"

Should I still have to look for an oculoplastic surgeon or move forward with this one?

Thanks much.
