Dermoid cyst
My 9 year old son has to have a cyst removed from his eye. My question is how do they know it is a dermoid cyst? I thought dermoid cysts were not malignant. My doctor said they will have to test it after it is removed to make sure. What happens if it is malignant? Does that mean it is not a dermoid cyst?

A dermoid cyst is the most common cyst that requires surgical removal in kids. The great majority are benign. Its unlikely to be malignant but if it is your eye MD will talk to you about the next step. There are other rare benign and malignant tumors.
