Distorted colored area in one eye

I am seeing an oval shape color in my left eye. It is a yellow/orange with a tinge of blue on the outside edges. It is not causing any type of pain and seems to be most noticeable during bright conditions and when I close my eyes. This started 4 days ago and does not seem to be getting worse or better. I am setting up an eye appointment this week, but am really starting to worry and would love some insight into what it could be!

Thanks for your response! After speaking with my neurologist today, he came up with the same diagnosis. When I was a teenager, I would often get migranes and it's exactly what I though it was.. Until, I woke up the next day and it had become more prevalent and there wasn't the throbbing pain. It's now day 5 and it has almost taken over my entire eye, making reading and working quite difficult.

This sounds like a phosphine or scintillating scotoma sometimes associated with migraine headaches, even though you are not having the headache. Try not to worry much about it. You appointment should reveal what is occurring. Are you visiting a medical doctor?
