Does solar retinopathy only affect central vision?

I don't want to explain why, but it was a awful mistake of looking at the sun from a few different angles. I went and got my eyes checked, obviously my center was slightly ruined but also a few small areas off to the side abit were also marked as ''red''. I'm only 18, no history of anything, good pressures, optic nerves etc etc, the spots are in the same area in each eye, I looked at the sun with both. My question is does solar damage any part of the eye or is it just commonly the center due to you looking at that point, whereas the little spot seems to be a few cm's above each eyes' cup aswell as the direct center, almost like a laser has pinpointed that area and zapped it.

Just the center  (macula/fovea)

So even if a light was directly pointed at a area outside the center, it wouldn't take damage?
Light from the sun will be focused on your macula not your peripheral vision.
