Dry Eye/Pain under eye

I have had pain under/around my eye.  I went to the eye doctor and he diagnosed dry eye and eye strain.  Can these diagnosis' cause pain under the eye, and sometimes off to the side?   If I had to draw a circle around the area of pain, it would circle around the under side and beside the eye.  THe pain is on/off, but sometime I am aware of.   I am using eye drops.

Dry eye pain can feel like lots of different things.  If you are not sure you are fully convinced by the doctor's examination and explanation, you should consider a second opinion.  Be sure to see an Eye MD.  You can find one near you at www.aao.org.

My pain is more under the eye than over.  I saw a regular eye doctor.  I just wish I knew if that type of pain is typical of dry eye/eye strain.
