post-0p care orbit decompression surgery

I had surgery 12 days ago. for an orbit decompression of the left eye sewcondary to grave's disease.  i HAD A THYROIDECTOMY TWO YEARS ago. I have some double vision when I look to the right.  the swelling and bruising is slowly resolving. However, I have what looks like swelling of the lower aspect of the sclera (conjunctival edema?)  What causes this and how can I reduce and prevent it.  It is not painful, but more of a scratchy full sensation.  My eye looks gelatinous if that makes sense...I am off the steroids and antibiotics, but still using Zylert? eye drops for the next few weeks.  I would never of had this surgery if I knew it was going to be so bad and such a long recovery period.  My lower eyelid is drooping and my eyeball looks bigger than ever.  I am worried about my vision.  My anxiety is driving my husband crazy. I was prepared for bruising and swelling, but not vision impairment and a worse appearing eye.  Any suggestions and explanations would be greatly appreciated. Just sorry I did not find this website pre-op
