Eye drop serve eye wash purpose

Hey. I suffer with dry eyes so they are quite sensitive. A while ago I was washing my hands and felt a splash of cold wetness hit my eye when washing of the liquid handwash (though it have been the eye drops I had just applied as well). Even if some water mixed with handwash got in would that be okay? I could not wash out the eye with tap water as there is a problem with the water supply at the moment but I applied more eye drops (that I use for dry eyes) as my eye doctor said that eye drops would clean things out of the eyes. Is this true/okay?
