Eye sight - all lights appear as 5 equally bright lights in a circle?

Recently my eyesight seemed to rapidly deteriorate with one eye blurring distance objects and the other blurring at close range, both with double vision shadowing. Fireworks were amazing with each light appearing as 5 lights in a circle. Like children's drawings of flowers. The circle of light expands with distance forming a ring. Does anyone know what may be going wrong?

Thanks for your quick reply. I have looked at google images and can't see any pictures that show the visual distortion of lights that I see. It makes night time driving impossible.

The most common problems that might account for this include cataracts, corneal disease and macular pathology. You will need to work through the causes with your Eye MD ophthalmologist
