Eyeglass prescription

I have recently been prescribed glasses, but not sure of the condition that caused it:

Sphere +0.50, Cylinder -0.25, Axis 180.  Same for both eyes.

Appears to be minor, are these glasses for everyday use or just for reading?  The reason I went in for an exam was eye pain, and sensitivity to light.  Lights at night appear to have a large glare and like a star.

Hoping these glasses will help with that issue, but not sure if that's what they were prescribed for.

You would need to ask the "doctor" that prescribed the glasses what they are for. The RX is very weak.  very small amount of farsighted (hyperopia) and ultra weak RX for astigmatism. The glasses should correct some or all of your symptoms: eye pain, sensitivity to light and reduced halos at night. If they do you can wear them to prevent those symptoms if they don't do any you might want to see if you can get your money back.

Thanks for the comment sir.  I won't need my money back, I'm active duty Army, they are free glasses.  Just waiting for them to get in and hopefully get a little relief from them.
Okay then if possible ask the prescribing doctor where he/she thinks it would help you most and also conduct your own experiments. Thank you for your service.
