Eyelid Chalazion Advice

Hello,

For the last few months I've had

A medium blocked oil gland (Chalazion) under my eye lid.

I have oily skin and in the past a sty but unlike the sty

hot compression doesn't seem to reduce the inflammation,

actually making it red and possibly irritating it more.

Should I try ice? Or nothing at all?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Thank you for the advice, I'll use the warm compression remedy more often and then consider the results.

Dear psychocandy99,

The treatment of a chalazion is warm compresses a four times a day.  The goal is try to get the gland to drain on its own.  Sometimes, if the compress is too hot, it can cause more redness.  I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD if you have not, and if you have, go back to let him/her know what is happening.
