Flashing lights on peripheral vision

Hi,

I am 9 months pregnant and recently I have occasional flashing lights on the peripheral corner of the left eye when  I blink. It varies in frequency per day and I feel it gets worse while tilting or moving the head. I already had my fundus examined and they couldn't find any oedema in the retina. What could be the cause? I checked my blood count and I am not anaemic.

If it is momentary, only with blink, and you have had a normal eye exam it is likely a pressure phosphene which is a form of entoptic phenomena. Read the section on same in wikipedia.com    Sometimes during pregnancy the hormonal changes or stress can make these more apparent.
