I have no distance with crystalens right eye. I cover the other and can only see with no blur about 5ft. I only need reading glasses for the left eye and can see very well for distance. Put the two together and I feel very unstable. I agree about the yag, And will cancel app for tomorrow .
I'm not a doctor, but I agree completely with Dr. Hagen. Get more opinions from doctors who are very familiar with Crystalens and refractive (e.g. laser) surgery.
Are you having trouble seeing distance with only your Crystalens eye open? Or are you having trouble seeing with both eyes together? Do you wear a contact in your +7 eye, or do you have glasses?
The YAG procedure corrects certain problems, but can cause others, so it is not something to rush into. If the doctor is simply trying to use a YAG to push your refraction from -1 toward 0, I personally would disagree with that approach. For me, PRK would be a better option to explore first.
Get a second or third opinion before you have the Yag capsulotomy done.
The power of your IOL is okay. Even if it were perfect 20/20 you would have trouble using the eyes together due to high hyperopia in the +7.00 eye.
From what you've told me it doesn't seem that stating the IOL would be exchanged would be the second step and yes it is more difficult to do an IOL exchange with a hole in the posterior capsule.
