HELP ME HELP MY EYES!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE

Hey guys,

Firstly i would like to send a thank you in advance to anyone that has a response to my problem.
Ok for the last 3-4 years i have had eyes that have cause much pain and embarrassment. The following are some of the symptoms i get daily:

1. Watery Eyes
2. Red Eyes
3. Itchy Eyes
4. Eye Lashes are easy to pull out
5. Sticky substance at the corner of my eye

I have been to two eye specialists and both have said that i have a build up of oil within my eyes, they said that some baby shampoo in warm water rubbed in the eye with cotton wool would fix the problem. This did not work at all so I then went to an optometrist and he said that my pores under my eye lids are blocked up with oil and that if i applied some hot water on the surface under the eye it would loosen the oil, and if i were to apply pressure with my fingers it would unblock these pores. When i do this i get a build up of a sticky substance of some sort in the corner of my eyes. I do this regularly and i still have the same problems.

My eyes water 10x per day and that is being conservative, i struggle to have appointments which is really affecting my work. They are red most of the day and very itchy.

Any sort of help would be appreciated.

Hi John,

I have taken your advise above mixed with some general research online and started warm presses followed by cleaning of the eye lid with baby shampoo followed by application of Thera Tears. My only issue is that every time i put in the Thera Tears my eyes seem more irritated. Why is this?

Thanks

To cut to the chase on blepharitis: Lid hygeine with Occusoft Foam Lid Cleaner or Theratears SteriLid foam cleaner (over the counter).  Azasite drops (expensive) to lids at bedtime for 6-8 weeks and perhaps a couple of months of oral tetracycline.

John,

Thank you for your comment. Blepharitis is what they diagnosed me with, i just forgot the name. I did the various treatment options they discussed with me, however i had no improvement in the symptoms. I will read up on it a little more.

If anyone suffering from Blepharitis has any input on some treatment methods that have been successful with them that would be appreciated.

Once again thank you.

All 3 of the professionals you consulted have agreed your problem is the edge of the lid, likely blepharitis. use the search feature and archives and read about the diagnosis and treatment of blepharitis. Also there is a discussion group question-thread  over several years old on this problem.
