High myopia 2.5 year old

My son has just been diagnosed with severe myopia at 2.5yrs. He is -12 in both eyes. The hospital never even mentioned that he was at risk of all the secondary complications I have now read about online. I've now found a specialist I want him referred to. Does anyone have any experience of such a severe prescription at such a young age? It has not affected is development in any way so far

He needs to see a pediatric ophthalmologist with an interest in myopia. Look back on my postings over the past 2 weeks I posted a review article on the epidemic increase of myopia and high myopia world wide. Risk factors for you son would be family history of high myopia and low birth weight/prematurity    Treatment sometimes consists of low dose atropine drops.
