How will Strabismus affect me if I don't get surgery?

I have had Starbismus my entire life and after wearing glasses for almost five and a half years, I still have double vision and my eyes haven't gotten any better; they have gotten worse.

Can I live with it? I can already deal with the headaches and I don't even notice the double vision anymore.

I know surgery is an option, however, I do not want any kind of eye surgery ever. Will I have to get surgery to avoid any problems in the future? My parents did not know I had this eye problem until I was about thirteen or fourteen years old (I always thought it was normal).

If I do not get the surgery and live with it, will my eyes and myopia get worse over the years?

I already wear glasses and it doesn't help prevent the double vision or my eyes.

Since you don't notice the double vision you can take that off your list of concerns.  Glasses and surgery do different things.  If eyes straight with glasses not straight without them what person needs is glasses not surgery.  If with glasses almost straight in some cases surgery is done for the non-straight component but glasses still necessary.  Strabismus and strabismus surgery have no effect on myopia development or progression. most strabismus patients are hyperopic (farsighted).
