I have a torn retina

How bad will it be if I wait one and a half weeks before I have laser treatment for torn retina? I am going on a hiking/camping trip next week and want to be able to go. I am scheduled to see a retina specialist this week. Also, how long is the recovery time?

Don't be foolish. You could lose your vision in part or entirely. A partial detachment can progress to total detachment. Get it treated as soon as possible it is an emergency . one hiking trip isn't worth it.

You do not want to chance a detachment, ask anyone who has had one.  Don't wait!!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Your retinal could detach and you will need a much bigger surgery and the chance of success will be less.  Retinal tears (not hole or lattice) should be treated ASAP.  It is a medical emergency.

Retinal detachments can lead to permanent loss of vision and surgery is not always successful.  About 3.5% of surgeries result in poor vision.
