IOL removal and replacement

I've been experiencing bleeding in the left eye for a couple of years and it was getting progressively worse.  My retinal specialist thought it was a complication from a torn retina which treated.  Bleeding started after the treatment (laser) for the torn retina.  A vitrectomey was peformed a few months ago and did not solve problem. New prognosis is that problem is due to IOL rubbing against pupil. Keeping eye dialated has stopped the bleeding.  Catract surgery was performed about six years ago.  Is IOL removal and replacment a viable option for fixing this problem given the history of procedures on this eye?

Was wondering if alpha blockers can aggravate the bleeding that I describe above?  I take one for BPH and am aware of the floppy iris syndrome that complicates cataract surgery.   Just started taking them recently and this seemed to coincide with increased bleeding.

Yes it is an Alcon Acrosof IOL.  I know my doctor had a problem in positioning the IOL during the procedure but do not know if there was capsular break.  Thanks very much for your feedback.

Is this an Alcon Acrosof IOL?  Was there a capsular break during the cataract surgery.  These IOL can not be put in the sulcus.  They cause the problem you describe.  Repair of the problem can be as simple as repositioning the IOL,  cutting and removing the haptic, or IOL exchange.
