IOP Fluctuations

Hello! I'm curious about something. I recently had an eye exam and had an IOP in both eyes of 16. The exam before that which was 6 months prior was pressures of 13.

What is considered a normal amount of fluctuations for IOP? I know it changes quite a bit throughout the day but I'm not sure how much is fine.

You don't need to worry. The normal IOP ranges from 10-21 mm of hg. Sometimes IOP to be taken every hours and most people show a diurnal range of 2-6 mm of hg.

The standard range of IOP is about 8-20.   Many tests have been doing checking IOP every hours.  It changes in everyone, it is called the diurnal curve.  For most non glaucoma patients the difference between high and low is about 4-6 points.

Awesome thank you :) glad to know this fluctuation is normal. I sometimes worry it will just keep going up but my eye doc expressed no concerns so I guess I shouldn't worry
Just to note when they take the pressure try not to tense up as that can affect the reading as well (it does for me anyways)  I start shaking when they check mine.   Techs always get a higher reading with the hand held tester.  More in line when the Dr checks it using the instrument on his slit lamp device.
Mechanism is squeezing of the lids. When I double check the techs I hold the lids off the eye ball.
