Is retina detachment hereditary?

Is retina detachment hereditary? I have had a retina detachment in my right eye and I have recently been diagnozed with retina detachment in my left eye. My brother has suffered from retina detachment as well. My parents and other closed relatives have never had a similar condition. Is there a high risk that my children may at some stage have retina detachment as well? Thanks

The only way your children would be at high risk is if they have extremely high myopia, or other conditions, like retinopathy of prematurity, diabetic retinopathy, Marfan's syndrome, congenital cataract, etc.

Usually not except for some syndromes.  I doubt your children will have an increased risk for RD.
