Macular holes caused by myopic macular degeneration

My ophthalmologist recently diagnosed me as developing macular holes in my right eye as a result of having myopic macular degeneration. I am a high myope--18.25 in my right eye which is the problem eye. He indicated that there was some sort of treatment which could fix it but my condition wasn't advanced enough yet to warrant it. The vision in my right eye is becoming more and more distorted and I am even experiencing eye strain and discomfort in that eye when I read especially and some when watching TV. Do you have any advice for me on effective treatments, should I continue to wait per my ophthalmolgists advice etc?

Thanks Dr Vosoghi. I will get another opinion but can you tell me what options you are aware of for treatment of macular holes and at what point one should have surgery. Your input and advice would be helpful to me.

I would get a second opinion from another experienced retina specialist given your high degree of myopia.  I can't comment on whether surgery would be right for you or not because that is very specific to the way your eye appears on exam.
