Neural damage leading to eye problems

I know that this question should really be on the neurology board but since it says it has reached the posting limit I'm hoping maybe someone here can give me some advice (since my question is relevent to my eyes).  When I was three years old (I am now 21) I had a very serious case of encephalitis, which I was very lucky to survive without serious neural damage (the virus causes your brain to swell).  The only major problem I have noticed over the years is that my eyes do not dilate normally which sometimes causes serious pain and loss of vision when I go in and out of buildings throughout the day.  My eyes simply cannot adjust.  I'm worried that this could also cause me serious vision loss in the future because my pupils are not properly closing in sunlight.  Any suggestions for where I should go from here?

No it will not cause any damage in the future. Its an unusal problem. You should see a neuroophthalmologist. Find one near you at www.aao.org
