New treatment for high myopia

Dear doctors & users

seems this company shows promising
stem cell treatment for

high myopia, Stargardt’s disease (juvenile macular degeneration), age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and other degenerative diseases of the retina.

www.advancedcell.com

the company is currently doing clinical
trials stage 1/2, & have some reported
promising results & they have been doing
it for the last 8 years or so.

however, is it likely we will get the
treatment soon for the general public ?

there are some informative discussion threads on high myopia and myopic macular degeneration which you can access using the search and archive features.

We had a wonderful 3 week vacation in Australia. Lovely country and great people.

Dear Dr John Hagan

thank you kindly for your reply
about the time
of 3-10 years, it gives me & others
real hope with our eye conditions.

i live in Sydney, Australia & your
comments remind me of our
public system where there is
pretty much the same goes on...

i have a high regard
for America & Americans
with their progressive/bold attitude
to technology & getting things done.

i recently purchased a Fisher Wallace
Stimulator from the U.S
to help treat my mother's
depression & anxiety.
www.fisherwallace.com
it has given us hope.

this medical device was approved
in 1991 by the FDA & has been in
since then, but Australia  is only
recently just starting to do
clinical trials on patients at
it's research institutions in the
last 2 years using this type of
technology.
Australia seems to be lagging
long way behind America & Europe.

i have high myopia and have had a
vitrectomy in my right eye because i had
a  epiretinal membrane,
and recently had laser treatment to
my left eye for a tear.

i try to keep up with the latest new treatments
especially for my high myopia condition
and hope there will  rapid progress
& treatment coming on line.

If you live anywhere else in the world you will likely have access to this technology in 3-10 years.

In the United States the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in my opinion is inept, incompetent, lazy and staffed mostly with administrative fools. They keep life-saving produces and sight saving products off the market long after they are "safe and effective" in Europe and Asia. The FDA dramatically increases the cost of brining new and innovative products to market. So the FDA is one of the major reasons the US has lost its technological world leadership.  Administrative employees that can not be compelled to work and cannot be fired people the FDA.  I've thought about an hour now about something nice to say about the FDA and can't think of a single thing. Consequently no telling when or if that technology will be available.
