The eye clinic at TMC is excellent and has sharp Residents and is well supervised with attending staff. You may have had hemorrhage in you eye at the time of injury (hyphema) that could cause an immediate change in the appearance of the iris. Permanent change of color could be due to blood staining of the iris or cornea or iris atrophy.

Also, I was seen at the eye clinic at Truman Medical Center because I had double vision for so long, they never had an answer for me and didn't think it was any to worry about.
Would the trauma have cause both of my eyes to change color? The injury was to the right eye, though I did have some bruising of the left eye. The color change was immediate, when I was getting settled in my hospital room, the nurse commented about my blue eyes, before I fell they were Hazel green.
See an Eye MD and see if you have iris atrophy from the trauma.
