PRK surgery for monocular person

Dear Doctors,

Do you offer to get PRK surgery for a monocular person whose remaining eye's retina is sealed by laser because of tears. He has high myopia and fed up to wear glasses.

Thank you.

Dear Dr. Hagan,

He is 35 years old who lost his vision because of detached retina.
His remaining eye dioptry is -10 myopia, the lens is clear (no cataract), the cornea thickness is 530 microns, his retina has lattice but I do not know its degree.
But remining eye's retina is sealed by laser because of retinal tears.

It's not likely that surface laser will get rid of -10 myopia thus the glasses will be thinner but still needed. Whether he wants to take on these risks with only one eye is his to make. I would get a 2nd and 3rd opinion one from retina eye MD and a different cornea/refractive surgeon.

If a person only has one eye they need to be much more careful than those blessed with two.  It would be important to know what the person's glasses RX is, how thick the cornea is, age, whether there is any degree of cataract and how extensive the lattice is.  Also what is wrong with the other eye that it can't see. If you can furnish that information I can give you a better answer.
