Papillodema

Hi Dr. John. We have spoken alot. I went to see my local opticians about the swelling in both eye nerves and discs while I am waiting for hospital app.I know she is not a specialist but she  could clearly see with the machine she has, Papillodema in both eyes. She took a special photo and could show me the "swelling".She feels that it could very likely Benign Intracranial Hypertention but I must wait for the lumber puncture to comfirm. So far the neurologist has comfirmed Temporal Arteritis. What do you think the chances of me losing my eye sight are? I seem to be caught between a rock and a hard place. Thanking you agaain. Cath278.

The biggest risks are not having the conditions DX'ed and not treated. With treatment both TA and BIH can usually be controlled. The odds are greatly in your favor or retaining most or all of you sight.
