Pigmentation on the outer edge of retina

Greetings,

I had a dilated eye exam where the doctor said I have pigmentation at the outer edge of my retina.
I had other tests, Retinitis Pigmentosa was ruled out. I was told this is nothing of concern.
I'm in my mid twenties, spherical power of 5.75-6D.

I have two question for this,
1. what is this pigmentation?
2. is it possible that later on the central part of the retina gets pigmented? would such pigments "block out" parts of the central vision?

First of all I hope you saw an Eye MD ophthalmologist and not a lesser trained OD optometrist. That being said "pigment' in the retina is normal just as it is in the skin. Under the retina is a heavy layer of pigment (called the retinal pigmented epithelium)  some of the pigment makes it to the surface especially at the periphery. It is so common it is usually never mentioned or considered normal.   To question 2  NO

Thank you for the quick answer. Yes I have visited an ophthalmologist.
I'm happy blocking out central vision is not of concern and judging by the answer I reckon my suggestion was utter nonsense - luckily.
I was happy to set your mind at ease and your question would not make the top 100 most nonsensical questions asked here. One that has gone on for years are people that say their eye tears come out of their ears.
