Post retinal surgery

Hello, I am 10 days post retinal surgery.  My question is if people are able to return to labor type jobs once the eye is completely healed?  I lift approximately 25lbs or so at work periodically during my shift and am wondering if I am going to be able to return to that job.  I posed a similar question before and got a reply to speak with my surgeon.  Unfortunately, I am not able to communicate effectively with my surgeon as he is limited in his English and very rushed.  I've tried to be my own advocate and am getting nowhere.  I don't care what the timeline is, I am asking for similar experiences.  Are people able to resume working, gardening, painting, etc. when the eye heals, regardless of how long that takes?

Thanks so much.

From my experience, went back to work almost immediately. But I don't carry weights in my job. Resume sports activities within weeks. I would worry more of backache if you don't lift properly. A surgeon who speaks limited english, that’s even more worrisome.

After the eye is completely heal (which can be months or weeks) return to normal activies is the norm. Surely your eye surgeons staff speak english. Ask them to ask him when you can go back to work and what your limitations are. This is basic information and no surgeon should be too busy to answer.
