I was wondering how much you know about cataracts and the surgury
Let me explain my condition, sorry I don't know the medical terms.
I was born with cataracts in both my eyes. It was not detected until I was five and at that time they didn't want to do anything, I recall something about having to replace the lens and having to continue to do so as I grew. So years went by, I was never given eyeglasses as they claimed they would not help me. I never understood why? You see I was very young, and my mother not aggressive enough to demand more information. In my area we had only one specialist at the time. Years later, I say some one new. Again was told glasses would not help and surgury could be done, but at the time not recommended. I guess the cataract is on the back of lens rather then the front, fear of tearing the retina and causing my eye to bleed out has made surgery not an ideal solution at this time. I was told that as long as I could function with day to day life, to put it off until it was absolutely necessary. I know my eyesight is bad, but it has always been so I have nothing to compare it to. I do not know if it is getting worse. It has over the years, but it's so gradual I do not notice I wish I had more details to give you, just the bits of information I have been told. What I am after, is would glasses have helped me at all through the years. To this day, I still have not found a cataract specialist who thinks they would, but that just doesn't sit right with me. I am looking for more information on the surgery and wether I am right to wait? Is it a high risk I'm looking at if I were to have it done now.
I know they are making medical advances all the time.....but sometimes, I would just like very much to see what every one else is seeing!!!
Posterior subcapsular cataract are not that hard to remove. Planed implant and removal and reinsertion of another IOL does not make sense.

Thanks. Is what makes it nonsensical that the cataract should already be gone when the natural lens is removed or is it the procedure that doesn't make sense?
This does not make sense. Get another opinion.
