Smoked Eyes

I have had long-standing dry eyes and allergy eyes.  Last night for the first time ever, I could have sworn I was seeing smoke in my apartment!  I even called maintenance!  Turns out the left eye became smoked over or glazed, just like you are looking through smudged glasses.  Being a new thing, it scared me and I managed to find an opthalmologist who was willing to meet me at the office.  After dilated exam, she said that it is allergies with a possible infection.

I have never had my eyes to fog over unless I had gotten shampoo in them, but the fogging only lasted for about 30 minutes after that.  With this episode I had, it only worsened until bedtime.  It was clear this morning, but I can already see some slight smokiness trying to return.  I used a sample of Refresh Liquigel tears while ago, but can't tell if it is helping or not.

I will follow up with my regular opthalmologist this Wed. as he was out of town.  The lady Dr. was not my regular physician.  Can an infection cause fogging?  Of course I have a list of questions for my regular Dr.  I'm afraid I'm facing the same problem again tonight.  As the eye has an implant from a 2006 cataract surgery it scared me afraid it was going bad, but thankfully, that wasn't the problem.

Thanks so much.

Thanks, Dr. Oyakawa.  I will definitely mention this to my regular opthalmologist Wednesday.  Thanks again.

Another consideration is amaurosis fugax or TIA (transient ischemic attach) of the eye.  This is due to a temporary change in blood flow.  This is diagnosis by history and your ophthalmologist may refer you to a doctor to check your cartoid arteries, heart and circulation.
