Thank you for your response, I'm in Connecticut USA, I've been back to my surgeon, plus other specialist in the eyecare World including Yale's medical center, three years ago I was put on fresnel prism, then grounded prism, prism do NOT work for me, they're blurry, they diminish my acuity and my visual World, I've had these same conversations with these Ophthalmologist, but I'm reminded that their diplomas are hanging on the wall. I've come to the conclusion that this is "my problem" because no doctor nor specialist walks in "my shoes" so they really can not comprehend how this is affecting me. I am a productive part of society working in the Aerospace field in a defense mode for our Country's security actually as an inspector. ( ironic ).. But I've also started looking for ideals to eliminate the vision from my right eye, I understand no medical practitioner in the USA will assist me, I'm cornered against a wall and desperation is seeping in.
Thank you for a open ear.
Many times, a second surgery (and even sometimes a third) is needed to achieve the final desired result with strabismus surgery. My answer is, no, it is not expected and not normal for you to have to still patch one eye to relieve double vision. Of course, not everyone will have a perfect result with surgery, but at present, it sounds like you are certainly at least a little disappointed. Please talk with your surgeon or get a second opinion to see if additional surgery may be helpful for your symptoms. Again, sometimes it takes 2 or 3 surgeries for a final good result, and also even so you will never be perfect usually, just closer to straight or close enough that most people cannot tell. I'm not happy about your double vision symptoms, though.
