My Question,I am in the process of having eye tests. On the Amsler Grid there were many squares missing .The consultant did not see the grid. Could he have missed problems with the Macular when checking my eyes.If i look at gravel it appears to shimmer , colours are dim . lights are dim . White appears Grey. Thank you Phil

Sounds an awful lot macular degeneration to me OR CSCR, depending on your age. DO you notice that objects appear a different size in the affected eye too? It seems almost impossible for a retina surgeon to miss macular problems on a dilated exam. This is especially true if there are holes in the Amsler grid. It's the first place he/she will look.

If your Amsler is abnormal then a reason needs to be found.  Was your "doctor" a MD ophthalmologist? If an non MD optometrist then you need to see a Eye MD.

If it was an Eye MD see a retina surgeon and have an ocular OCT
