Recent cataract surgery

I had cataract surgery on my right eye several years ago with excellent outcome.  I can see very well without a corrective lens.  I had my right eye done using the same doctor but at a different location.  I had my surgery on April 29.  I was a little upset because the doctor that actually performed the surgery was someone I had not met until I was in pre-op.  He did the surgery although my primary doctor was in attendance.  Both have a good reputation.  It has been a week since my surgery and my vision is horrible.  Everything is blurred especially close up and within ten to twenty feet.  When I related this to the doctor I was told it was probably from the ointment and also that it would improve with a contact lens.  I stopped using the ointment for two days and the vision was the same.  In my opinion this is a brush off.  My vision was far superior prior to the surgery with and without a contact lens.  Now I cannot read or see anything on my computer.  I have to work with the eye closed.  Using both puts a strain on my right eye.  Even two pair of 2.50 reading glasses will not correct the near vision.  What is interesting is bifocals clear up my vision somewhat at a distance of ten feet.  I do have mild keratoconus but it has never been an issue with my vision.  My lay opinion is they did not calculate the IOL correctly.  Is IOL replacement an option for me?  How will they accurately calculate the power if my eye currently has such bad vision?  Also how do I convince the doctor or should I go elsewhere?  Should it be soon or is there a wating period?

I don't think you've been given an adequate explanation. I suggest you see your first eye surgeon and ask frankly what's going on. If it was an IOL power problem and nothing else then with a proper glass in front of the surgery eye you should see great.

If the explanation is not adequate consider an outside second opinion

Correct. I had the right eye done years ago with great results.  I made an error in the post.  Just had the left eye done.    Can't see a thing.  I'm going back to see the doctor today but I don't expect much.  I also wonder if the diameter of the lens is too large. I can feel it in my eye.  It's like having a hard contact lens.

so wait...you had your right eye redone already?  of was the recent cataract surgery on your left eye now with the bad results?

it just seems from your explanation above that you had the right eye with good results redone?
