Red Eyes

Hi there,

My name is James and I am 25 years old.  I have had allergies due to dust, mold, dustmites, cats, etc, all of my life.  I have tried many different things and even now I am on an allergy drop where I put it under my tongue three times a day and it is supposed to cure my allergies for good.  But no matter what I do my eyes are always red and I have tried just about everything I can think of it.  They get the worst when I drink alchahol or not get enough sleep and so on.  I have been using thera tears because I thought maybe I just have bad dry eye but those don't seem to do anything for me.  Please respond back with any advice you can think of, I feel like I'm the only one who has this problem and it is very embarrassing going in public like this.

Alcohol is a dilator of blood vessels; consider it an indication that you are alcohol intolerant and still with caffeine.

Would you also have any advice on why my eyes get extremely red when I drink any kind of alchahol?

Do you think that would help the redness? I have often wondered if I maybe suffer from sleep apnea but I have heard that it is very expensive to get tested for it.  I know it can't just be from my allergies because if I just don't get enough sleep one night my eyes will be completely bloodshot all day the next.

Find an Eye MD ophthalmologist near you, perhaps a cornea specialist and get a second opinion. Find one at www.aao.org    Read Dr. Hagan's blog on dry eyes. You may need restasis, tear duct plugs and allergy eye drops.
